My Values

Respect - Growing up in Korean culture, respect—whether that is to others or to myself—was the first thing I learned. What I thought was just a cultural thing suddenly became who I pursued to be. Whether that is respecting people's personalities, perspectives, or potency, I believe that respect allows one to see others as a person, not as a project or as an irrelevant individual. By respecting people, it gives freedom to allow them to who they are. Respect means show people that they deserve to be acknowledged. I learned that whether it is respecting an elderly to children, often first impression relies on action and I try my best to reflect the person Christ has made me to be.
Learning - I am a learner. I love to learn. I believe that I can always learn something every hour, every day. No matter how good I might be in certain areas, there is always a room to learn. From learning how to fix a sink to learning about different cultures, I am easily intrigued and curious of ideas and practices that I am not aware of. Therefore, I love to ask questions when I have conversations with people because it allows me to listen. By listening, I get to absorb whatever is being talked about and able to validate that person's worth; that they are seen and heard.
Authenticity - Authenticity is what I strive for in every relationship and in every conversation. It is often very easy to have shallow conversations and relationships that do not require any genuine--sacrificial--love. Authenticity allows one to fully embrace and love on a person as who they are. It allows the receiver to feel heard, seen, and known. It is easy for one to love but it is hard to commit. Everyone can love someone or something but their true love comes after a time being when all the excitement, first impression, and people pleasing is over. That is when a person can really know that they are interested. I want my relationship with the Lord or with people to be as pure as possible.
Ambition - I am passionate about people and about ministry--especially missions. I believe that whether you are leading others or speaking in front of people about a certain message, if what I say and do does not come from my heart than it will not reach to other people's hearts. I believe that doing something I am passionate about will bring the best out of me. It will allow me to be all-in. I don't like to spend my time doing something I do not believe in or doesn't make a difference in any way. However, I believe that this kind of mindset requires a level of maturity of understanding the situation and the opportunity that is given to me.
Optimism - One of my best strengths is positivity. I believe that attitude can define whether if the boat is going to float or not. Positive mindset allows me to view particular situation in ways that is good or benefiting. By being positive in the midst of hardship, it allows me to persevere through tough times by allowing myself to see the bright side. In situations where I am in a team, positivity is infectious to the entire team.
